Draw the Lines Mapathon

Organizer: Draw the Lines PA

Democracy means voters choose their politicians. Sadly, current Pennsylvania law lets politicians choose their voters. Draw the Lines PA (DTL) aims to change that, to create fair congressional districts for all Pennsylvania voters. DTL will be partnering with Lebanon Valley College to engage students and voters in Central PA in a night of civic engagement and citizen mapping. Redistricting and gerrymandering impact all Pennsylvanians, and DTL is your chance to take make your voice heard in how you want PA's congressional districts to be mapped. DTL offers the use of free digital mapping software, so that you can learn how congressional district maps are made and try your hand at creating your own. Maps can then be entered to win cash prizes and shared with our elected officials in Harrisburg so they know how Pennsylvanians want to be represented. We'll be dividing into teams, rolling up our sleeves, and encouraging participants to either draw a map or have a say in one that will be submitted to elected officials for their consideration. Bring your laptop!
