Soft Money

Donations to political party organizations for the purpose of "party building" that were beyond federal regulation until they were banned in 2002 by the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. The contrast is with hard money.

Political Party Committee

The main fundraising arms of the political parties. The big six are the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Republican National Committee (RNC), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) .
