In honor of this 4th of July holiday, The Fulcrum shares a history of Independence Day from The Daily Dose. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of Independence from Great Britain and formally adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4th. Celebrations would ensue and the firework tradition was established on the first anniversary.
